⚠️ Do not place damp or moisture-saturated items directly into the electronic dry cabinet.
Doing so will not only reduce its effectiveness but may also cause damage.
The primary function of an electronic dry cabinet is to maintain a stable low-humidity environment for storage. It is not designed to remove excess moisture from already damp items.
✅ Recommendation:
Before placing high-moisture items (such as a wet camera bag or leather goods) inside, make sure to wipe them dry, air-dry, or leave them in a ventilated place until fully dry, then store them in the dry cabinet at the proper humidity setting. This ensures optimal protection against humidity, mold, and oxidation.
How a dry cabinet works:
An electronic dry cabinet uses a sealed environment with dehumidifying materials or electronic modules to continuously reduce and stabilize humidity by expelling moisture.
Limitations with oversaturated moisture:
If the item itself contains excessive water, the cabinet’s dehumidifying capacity may not be able to cope efficiently. This could prolong the drying process, keeping the cabinet at a high humidity level for an extended period, reducing performance and potentially shortening the unit’s lifespan.
Initial treatment: If the item is already damp, first wipe the surface clean with a dry cloth.
Air-dry: Place it in a shaded, ventilated area until fully dry.
Storage: Only after the item is dry should it be placed in the dry cabinet with the humidity properly set for safe long-term storage.
