Using Graduated Neutral Density Filters – Master GND to Tackle High Contrast Scenes
When photographing sunrises and sunsets, especially when shooting directly toward the sun, the most commonly used filter is the Reverse Graduated ND (Reverse GND)—with Reverse 0.9 being the most frequently applied.
Made from a special resin material and corrected through optical transmission processing, this filter reduces light reflections and avoids the noticeable color shifts typically found in ordinary glass filters.
Because it is made of resin, you also don’t need to worry about the filter shattering if accidentally dropped—unlike traditional glass filters.
